PATHWAY Process Naming
Conventions
PATHWAY process names must be unique in your system and must adhere to certain
PATHWAY process naming rules. A set of process names that adhere to these rules
are included in the PQDEFLTS file. These process names follow some naming
conventions devised for Queue Manager applications used with a TRANSFER system.
The PATHWAY rules and Queue Manager naming conventions are covered in the
following paragraphs:
PATHWAY Process Names
The following rules apply to PATHWAY process names:
A process name begins with a dollar sign ($).
The characters allowed in the name are:
Letters A through Z (Uppercase and lowercase are equivalent.)
Digits 0 through 9
A letter must follow the $.
The maximum length for a process name is four characters excluding the initial $.
Queue Manager Default Process Names
The installation procedures provide the configured processes with a default name
specification that generates a valid PATHWAY process name.
Queue Manager process names begin with a default prefix, $ZT
Process names provided by default are:
$ZTWM, the process name for the Wait Manager (WMSERV) server class.
WMSERV is a single-process server class.
$ZTE0 through $ZTE9, process names for the Entry Manager (EMSERV) server
class.
When to Change Default Process Names
Default process names are chosen to help you avoid duplicating process names
already in use on your system. You will have to alter the process names if they conflict
with existing names, if you have more than one Queue Manager system at your
installation, or if you need more than 10 servers. You can also change the process
names to make them more meaningful for your installation. However, this is not
recommended.
