Step 7: Starting Queue
Manager
If you are configuring Queue Manager as part of a TRANSFER system, the appropriate
PATHWAY functions will be performed when the XCOOL program is executed to
start TRANSFER.
If you are configuring Queue Manager as part of a PATHWAY system without
TRANSFER, use the procedure you have set up to cold or cool start your PATHWAY
system. Refer to the examples for Queue Manager cold or cool starts at the end of this
section.
Screen COBOL applications can be incorporated into your PATHWAY system. For an
example of a screen COBOL application, see Appendix B.
Server Startup Messages
Queue Manager servers generate messages if they cannot open certain files or initialize
certain processes during startup. If you receive one of these messages, consider the
following:
If the server could not open a specified file, check to see that the file exists.
If the message reports a GUARDIAN 90 error, check the GUARDIAN 90 error
number associated with the problem.
Double-check your configuration and start Queue Manager again.
Step 8: Stopping Queue
Manager
If you are configuring Queue Manager as part of a TRANSFER system, the appropriate
PATHWAY functions will be stopped when the XSTOP program is executed to stop
TRANSFER.
If you are configuring Queue Manager as part of a PATHWAY system without
TRANSFER, use the procedure you have set up to shut down your PATHWAY system
or the Queue Manager portion of your PATHWAY system. Refer to the examples for
Queue Manager shutdown at the end of this section.
