Redefining Queue
Manager
Redefining Queue Manager allows you to modify the definitions of existing Queue
Manager objects. You redefine the configuration to:
Change parameters in the PQDEFLTS file
Reconfigure for a new release of software
Use the same files and programs you used to define a system to redefine it. The
procedure descriptions that follow apply for both definition and redefinition, but
redefinition has additional considerations.
Redefinition is performed by running the CDPQDEF program with REDEFINE
specified. The CDPQDEF program generates new files in the configuration subvolume
to be used for configuring, stopping, and starting the system.
The steps required for redefinition are:
1. Edit the DEFINEPQ (renamed working version of PQDEFLTS file) if required.
2. Run the CDPQDEF program to redefine Queue Manager.
3. Use the GPQCNFG file to cold load and configure the PATHWAY system.
4. Run the appropriate commands to cool start PATHWAY and start Queue
Manager.
When redefining the system, it is best to copy your configuration subvolume and
prepare the redefined system while the existing Queue Manager system runs.
Moving the Queue File The following procedures provide for maintaining the integrity of the Queue file
during a move.
To move Queue Manager, follow these steps:
1. Stop Queue Manager.
2. Move the Queue file. You can use the File Utility Program (FUP) either to rename
or to duplicate the file.
3. Because the Queue file is audited by TMF, perform an online dump before starting
Queue Manager.
4. Edit the define file DEFINEPQ. This step ensures that the current Queue Manager
definition shows the actual file names.
5. Use GPQCNFG to configure Queue Manager and run the CDPQDEF definition
program for redefinition according to the instructions given earlier in this section.
This ensures that the file names referenced in the generated PATHWAY
configuration will be correct.
