Resynchronizing Entire Databases Offline
TMF is deleted and reconfigured, or RDF is reinitialized, after a STOP RDF
command is issued at the primary system.
One of the following RDF errors occurs:
752 Audit block RBN out of sequence (Issue a STOP TMF command and
compare the database files after RDF has shut down.)
759 Incorrect audit trail file name (unless you can restore the missing audit trail
to the disk and restart RDF)
798 Image file open error (if it indicates that an updater cannot access the image
file for reasons other than error 12)
801 Internal error (unless caused by an updater process that is able to restart)
839 Audit trail file is missing (unless you can restore the audit trail file to
the disk)
One of the following RDF errors occurs for any process other than an updater:
755 CHECKMONITOR FAILURE – Backup Abended
799 Image file read error
802 Image file has bad RDF header record
For information about the cause, effect, and recovery for these RDF errors, see
Appendix C, Messages
.
Resynchronizing Entire Databases Offline
To resynchronize an entire database offline, you must stop TMF, initialize RDF to the
TMF shutdown timestamp, and then copy the complete database from the primary
system to the backup system.
If you are unsure about which tables or files might not be synchronized, you need to
compare the questionable tables or files between the primary and backup databases and
then, based on that evaluation, resynchronize some of the database objects.
To purge a SQL/MP database, use the SQLCI PURGE utility and DROP command, as
explained in the Compaq NonStopSQL/MP Installation and Management Guide.
To recopy a database to the backup system, follow the instructions under Synchronizing
the Primary and Backup Databases in section 3.
Resynchronizing Individual Volumes Offline
If you are sure that only certain database files or tables on a particular volume might not
be synchronized, all you need to do is synchronize that volume.
To resynchronize an individual volume, do as follows:
1. Stop RDF.
2. Delete the volume from the RDF configuration.
