RDF/IMP and IMPX System Management Manual (RDF 1.4+)
Installing and Configuring RDF
HP NonStop RDF/IMP and IMPX System Management Manual—524388-001
3-9
Installing RDF
The following practices are recommended:
•
SQL compile all NonStop SQL programs after moving them to the backup system.
A static recompilation reduces the applications’ startup costs after an RDF
takeover operation.
Alternatively, you can use the late binding feature. To do this, the SIMILARITY
CHECK attribute for all referenced tables and protection views must be enabled
and the program compiled with the CHECK INOPERABLE PLANS option.
•
Use DEFINEs for all NonStop SQL objects where possible; this simplifies the
commands for your OBEY command files and the commands for your NonStop
SQL DDL operations.
Installing RDF
The RDF/IMP or IMPX software, and all related documentation, is distributed on an
independent product release compact disk (CD). After loading the CD, double click on
the Readme icon for complete instructions on how to install the RDF/IMP or IMPX
software. Before installing this product, use HP NonStop SPR Scout to obtain access
to all applicable software product revisions (SPRs).
