RTID Management

A SystemException requires an operator to correct the system, often because of a
database problem. Director error messages include nested SQL error messages
wherever applicable; the document entitled “RTID Message Formats and
Programmatic Interfaces” includes an example.
A MetadataInconsistency requires the application customizer to correct the
metadata. For detailed information about the metadata language, see the
document entitled “RTID Metadata Language Reference.” For information about
how to modify existing metadata, see the document entitled “RTID Extensibility.”
A SoftwareDefect requires the RTID development team to correct the problem.
An exception doesn’t necessarily signify a problem. For example, it is fairly common for
a document to arrive out of a sequence. In such a case, the Director logs an INFO
message, rather than an error.
All the Director exception classes have corresponding Javadocs.
Access Log
The Director uses the WLS access log, which maintains a history of http requests and
responses. A response code of 200 signifies a successful interaction; a response code of
500 represents an error.
Transaction Log
The transaction log is actually a database table that provides end-to-end tracking of a
document from the time the Director receives it until processing is over. The transaction
log is described in the document entitled “RTID Security and Auditing.”
EMS Log
The Event Management Service (EMS) log is a record of errors and events reported by
many NonStop server subsystems. NonStop WLS, OSS, NonStop TCP/IP, TMF,
NonStop SQL/MX, and almost every other NonStop server software product contributes
to the log.

The Director uses the error folder to capture XML files that fail to be processed correctly.
If the server log indicates a failure in processing a document, the error folder is the place
to look for the document itself.
The name of the error folder is specified as a property in the Director properties file.
