The Real Time Information Director (RTID or Director) is a major component in several
NonStop Enterprise Division Solutions:
• Real Time Supply Chain

• Real Time Financial Services
The name “Real Time Information Director” reflects the purpose of the product. The
product supports Real-Time solutions, giving enterprises access to business data in
seconds instead of days or weeks. As Director, the product accepts data from diverse
sources and provides data to applications that need it. By enabling an integrated data
store and enriching the data in various ways, the product causes the data to become

The Director provides several major functions for real-time solutions:
• Allows enterprise applications to submit event data to the data store, using
standard formats and interfaces (XML, HTTP, JMS)
• Allows enterprise applications to subscribe to events or query the data store
• Provides interfaces for enriching inbound and outbound data, and for access to
external cleansing and business rules services
• Provides asynchronous and synchronous interfaces, and a means of developing
batch applications
• Provides mapping between the message format used by the source system (in the
case of a supply-chain solution) and the data store
• Provides mapping from the data store to the format required by subscribing
applications or to satisfy queries
• Allows partitioning the data store for optimal load balancing and performance
• Supports application of security policies on a per-document basis
• Supports flexible auditing on a per-document basis
