Enterprise Application Integration
To integrate enterprise applications with the data store, you need tools for enterprise application
integration (EAI). EAI tools include modules to perform data transformations and to implement routing
based on predefined business processes and scenarios. For example, you use a design tool to indicate that
messages from a specific enterprise application should be transformed and transmitted, using a specified
protocol adapter, to the NonStop Server. Adapters or built-in services of the EAI infrastructure
implement the protocols required for communication across platforms.
For example, a supply-chain solution might use the webMethods Integration Platform or the SAP
Netweaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI). The EHR demonstration uses the SeeBeyond e*Gate product
suite to perform transformations between Health Level 7 messages and the XML format used by the
Director. e*Gate runs on an HP Proliant system and uses HTTP to communicate with the NonStop
Server.

Auditing and Security Features
An important requirement of many real-time solutions is that users have access only to information to
