Migrating from RSC for Piccolo 5.0 to RSC/MP 7.2
Migrating from RSC for Piccolo 5.0 to RSC/MP
7.2
This section assumes the Piccolo component has been installed and configured from a
previous release. This migration is very similar to the previous section EXCEPT the old
client will NOT be able to communicate with the new RSC/MP host. The migration
must be performed as a unit. Each client that needs to communicate with the RSC/MP
7.2 host MUST be migrated in order to communicate with the new host.
To migrate from RSC for Piccolo version 5.0 to RSC/MP 7.2, do the following:
1. Install the new RSC/MP host component, see Section 3, Installing RSC/MP on the
Host.
2. Install the RSC/MP client. Follow the steps for installing RSC/MP that apply to your
platform (shown earlier in this manual).
3. Verify that the RSC/MP Transport (Piccolo) configuration is correct and a
connection can be made by using the PIPECP CONNECT command.
4. Verify the RSC/MP installation by using the RSCTEST or RSCTESTW program;
see Testing the RSC/MP Client Configuration on page 14-8.
Note. Some previous versions of the RSC client and the RSC host required a separate
installation of Piccolo. Piccolo is now installed with RSC/MP on all platforms. Older
versions of RSC and Piccolo should be removed.
