Lettercase Preservation in the Input Buffer
Lettercase Preservation in the Input Buffer
SCF does not upshift lowercase letters in its input buffer before parsing. This affects
the following entities:
Using the Break Key
If a command is in progress, pressing the Break key cancels further execution of that
command. If no command is in progress, pressing the Break key returns control to
TACL, but the SCF session is still running. You can type PAUSE at the TACL prompt
to return to the same SCF session.
Using the F16 HELP Key
You can use the F16 HELP key to display information about SCF commands. The
HELP key is essentially the same as the TACL HELP key. Pressing F16 while entering
an SCF command returns a message that indicates the expected input.
For other forms of SCF help, see Using the SCF HELP Command on page 4-21 and
SCF Menu-Mode Help on page 4-21.
Responding to the “More text” Query
By default, the page size for your terminal's display is 23 lines. Whenever you enter a
command that results in a display of text that exceeds this limit, SCF stops the display
and issues the prompt, More text? ([Y], N) on the 24th display line. If you respond by
pressing Return or Y, SCF continues displaying text. If you respond N, SCF terminates
both the display of text and the execution of the command you entered.
If you do not want to be prompted, and want command execution to be completed,
enter the PAGESIZE command (described on page 5-89
) without any number at the
SCF prompt.
Using the SCF Trace Function
SCF provides an optional trace facility accessible using the TRACE command
described on page 5-125. Some subsystems use all, or portions of, the SCF trace
PARAM command The parameter name is upshifted, but the value is not
upshifted.
Object names The object name itself is not upshifted, but the system and
device portions of the object name are upshifted because they
are objects defined by SCF and, therefore, are case-
insensitive.
ALIAS command The alias text is not upshifted, but the alias name is upshifted
because alias names are case-insensitive.
