Converting D-Series PUP and COUP
Commands to SCF Commands
This appendix compares PUP and COUP commands to their SCF equivalents.
You can also run SCF interactively and display the SCF equivalent commands for PUP
or COUP by entering one of the following:
-> HELP PUP pupcommand
-> HELP COUP coupcommand
Refer to the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series RVUs for information on:
How to convert PUP or COUP commands that you have been using in command
files on systems running RVUs earlier than G-series RVUs.
How to use the MIGSCF conversion tool to automatically convert PUP or COUP
commands to SCF commands.
Migrating from a D-Series RVU
If the current system is already running D46.00, see the G06.nn Release Version
Update Compendium for planning your migration.
If the current system is running an RVU that precedes D46.00, you should migrate
to D46.00 before migrating your database to a NonStop S-series server running a
G-series RVU.
Migrating directly to a G-series RVU from any D-series RVU prior to the D46.00
RVU is not recommended. Both the D46.00 and G-series RVUs contain new
Enscribe disk files and audit trails that are dissimilar to those in previous RVUs. If
you must fall back from a G-series RVU, your recovery tasks will be simplified if
you can fall back to D46.00, which contains Enscribe disk files and audit trails
similar to those in G-series RVUs.
If you plan to migrate NonStop K-series external disks, other important migration
considerations might apply. (See the G06.nn Release Version Update
Compendium.)
