Logging Off
Logging Off
Logging off notifies the system that you are no longer using the terminal, and blocks
the other users from using your privileges to perform operations that are traceable to
you.
After you log off, the system returns you to the T
ACL prompt. In case of Safeguard
protected terminals, if the log off is performed by the last opener of the terminal, then
screen is cleared and Safeguard prompt will not be displayed on the terminal. The
Safeguard prompt will be displayed on the screen when there is at least one opener for
the terminal.
Verify that the system has returned you to the appropriate prompt. This ensures that
you are logged of
f from the system. If the application program logs you off, then wait till
the application confirms that you have been logged off before leaving the terminal.
Concerns for the TACL User
If you frequently use the TACL product for your operations, you should understand the
additional security mechanisms available to you through it. These include both
Guardian and Safeguard mechanisms.
TACL Features
The TACL command interpreter provides a terminal user with a general user interface
to other programs. You can enter commands to call other programs, including HP
utilities and applications. For example, you use the TACL command interpreter to:
Edit and print documents
Read and send electronic mail
Run application programs
Compile and debug programs
Manage the system
How the System Identifies Users
The system knows you by your assigned user name and its corresponding user ID.
Also, each user name has an associated private password. When you log on, you tell
the system your user name (or user ID) and your password. If someone tries to log on
under your user name (or user ID) but fails to enter the correct password, the logon
operation fails.
If you have a user alias, you can also log on using that alias. For more information
about aliases, see
Assigning User Aliases on page 3-11.
