2 System Setup (Pre-D48)
Installation Overview
Depending on the system version of your NonStop OS software, installation of SSG
host software consists of these steps:
1. Product File Installation
2. SSG Setup:

Using SSGsetup—How to use SSGsetup
•
Local Node Installation—How to fully set up a control node
•
Remote Node Installation—How to install SSG servers on remote nodes
•
RSC Setup for SSG—How to configure RSC (for those sites that use RSC)
System Requirements
For hardware and software requirements, see System Requirements on page 1-2.
Product File Installation
On pre-D48 systems, you can install the SSG product files on the system by using the
NonStop OS Install product to copy the SSG files from the site update tape (SUT) to
your system.
SSG Setup
The SSG installation subvolume ZNOWSSG contains files to install the SSG.
Installing SSG
To install SSG from a TACL prompt, log on to TACL, perform a VOLUME command to
the SSG installation subvolume ZNOWSSG, and enter OBEY INSTALL:
Note. As of the SSG update T8488AAC or later, you do not need to run the SSG Setup utility if
you are using either DSM/SCM (G-series) or INSTALL. (For G-series, only DSM/SCM can be
used for software installation, and it is recommended for D48 and later.) Skip this section if you
are deploying the AAC SPR or later of the SSG. If you are deploying an earlier version of the
SSG, run SSG Setup to ensure that the SSG is installed and configured correctly.
