RSC Setup for SSG
RSC Setup for SSG
Remote Server Call (RSC) is not a requirement of the Client Server Gateway (CSG)
and SeeView Server Gateway (SSG) products. RSC is one of several communications
options that can be used to connect workstation graphical user interfaces (GUIs) via
the CSG to the SSG on NonStop host systems.
D40 and later product versions of CSG do not support RSC. RSC works only with pre-
D40 versions of CSG. If you use the optional RSC interface, you must use the RSC
Setup for SSG menu item to configure RSC so that the CSG can gain access to the
SSG.
Table 2-1 summarizes user transport options available and indicates which of those
options require the use of the RSC setup for SSG.
RSC Async Configuration
For asynchronous connections:
•
If you use the CSG Async communications transport, you do not need to run RSC
setup for SSG. You can simply use an existing communications port that has a
TACL prompt.
•
If you use RSC Async, you must have a dedicated port for the RSC connection. To
configure it, select the RSC Setup for SSG menu item, shown in Figure 2-22
on
page 2-24. Then select the Async Configuration menu item, shown in Figure 2-23
on page 2-25. Follow the instructions in the remainder of this section.
