Recovery Procedures
If you encounter a problem with a ServerNet Cluster Switch, use the following
procedures to recover.
Recovery Procedures for the UPS
Problems that might occur on the UPS include an audio alarm that sounds when a
problem has occurred, or the UPS might not be in the correct mode for operation or
replacement of the UPS or ServerNet II Switch.
Resetting the Audio Alarm on the UPS
To reset the audio alarm, press the alarm/reset button, which is the left-most button on
the front panel of the UPS, for 3 seconds until the alarm stops. Even though the audio
alarm may be silenced, the condition that caused the alarm might still exist. If LED 10
is flashing red indicating an overvoltage condition, it is not possible to silence the alarm
unless you remove the AC power from the UPS.
Placing the UPS in Standby Mode
To place the UPS in standby mode, press the standby button, which is the middle
button on the front panel of the UPS. The UPS beeps, LED 16 becomes unlit, and the
UPS stops supplying power to the ServerNet II Switch. Place the UPS in standby
mode before you replace a ServerNet II Switch or UPS. As long as the UPS is plugged
into utility power, the battery in the UPS will continue to be charged, if needed.
Placing the UPS in Operate Mode
To place the UPS in operate mode, press the power-on button, which is the right-most
button on the front panel of the UPS. The UPS beeps, the green LED 16 is lit, and the
UPS supplies power to the ServerNet II Switch.
Powering Off the UPS
To power off the UPS, you must disconnect it from the AC transfer switch.
