ServerNet Clusters and External ServerNet
Fabrics
The ServerNet Cluster Switch, model 6770, connects NonStop S-series servers in a
ServerNet cluster. Dual (X and Y) external ServerNet fabrics provide fault tolerance for
a ServerNet cluster. The peer external ServerNet fabric takes control if one external
fabric fails. For more information about ServerNet clusters, cluster topologies, other
ServerNet switches, and external ServerNet fabrics, refer to the ServerNet Cluster
Manual. Each external fabric consists of the following:
Modular ServerNet Expansion Boards (MSEBs) on page 1-5
ServerNet II Switch on page 1-7. The other components in a ServerNet Cluster
Switch, the AC transfer switch and the uninterruptible power supply (UPS), provide
power to the ServerNet II Switch but are not part of the external ServerNet fabric.
Fiber-Optic ServerNet Cables on page 1-14
Each external fabric supports up to three ServerNet II Switches. Each pair of switches
on the X and Y fabrics support up to eight nodes (Figure 1-1).
