Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
60Vdc maximum, 30Vac RMS maximum, and 20 mA maximum. For fault tolerance,
use a single set of contacts per each UPS.
When the EPO switch is closed:
•
The UPS immediately disconnects the power to the ServerNet II Switch.
•
The UPS itself shuts down, regardless of whether it is using AC power or battery
power. If the UPS was using battery power when shut down, no power is available
to the ServerNet II Switch until AC power is restored.
•
The AC transfer switch is unaffected.
IEC-320 Power Inlet
One power cord connects the IEC-320 power inlet on the UPS to the AC transfer
switch.
Input Circuit Breaker
In the international version of the UPS, an input circuit breaker is included on the rear
panel as shown in Figure 1-12.
Note. An EPO disconnect is required in the United States when a system is installed in a
computer/data processing room designed to comply with the special construction and fire-
protection provisions of NFPA-75, the standard for the Protection of Electronic Computer/Data
Processor Equipment, and Article 645 of NFPA-70, the National Electric Code. The remote
EPO port meets the requirements of NFPA Articles 645-10 and 645-11 for Disconnecting
Means.
An EPO disconnect is generally not required for installations outside the United States unless
otherwise specified by local authorities.
