Task 1: Planning and Preparation
1. Review Section 1, Introduction to the ServerNet Cluster Switch (Model 6770) for a
detailed description of the switch components, connections, cables, and cords.
2. Perform all the planning steps in Section 2, Planning for the ServerNet Cluster
Switch .
3. Perform all the planning steps in the ServerNet Cluster Manual.
4. Perform all steps in Section 3, Preparing to Install or Replace 6770 ServerNet
Cluster Switch Components.
5. Make sure that you have the following tools available:
T25 Torx screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver (might be needed)
6. Prepare the delivery route before a new ServerNet Cluster Switch enclosure
arrives:
Make sure that the paths and doorways are clear and wide enough for the
enclosures on their pallets, the packing crates, and the equipment used to
transport them.
Make sure that elevators can carry the weight of the crated system, the moving
equipment, and the movers. Each ServerNet Cluster Switch enclosure weighs
approximately 180 pounds.
7. Move the equipment on its shipping pallet into the room in which it will be installed.
Task 2: Preparing the ServerNet Cluster Switch
1. From the front of the enclosure, use a T25 Torx screwdriver to remove the four M5
Torx screws that attach the blank panels above the ServerNet II Switch. This allows
you to route the cables more easily onto the cable-management assembly.
2. Loosen the black thumb screws holding the ServerNet II Switch to the enclosure
frame. If the screws are too tight to loosen by hand, use a phillips screwdriver to
loosen the screws.
3. If there is a voltage setting on the AC/DC power supply located in the back of the
ServerNet II Switch, make sure that the voltage is set correctly. Set the
international version of the ServerNet Cluster Switch at 230 volts; set the Japanese
and North American ServerNet Cluster Switches at 115 volts.
4. Pull out the ServerNet II Switch on its rails until you hear the latches click.
