Labeling the Cables
Label each fiber-optic ServerNet cable on both ends. On each label, note where that
end of the cable connects. Although you can use any labeling convention appropriate
for your site, you should include the following information on the label (see Figure 6-1):
•
On the ServerNet II Switch end of the cable:
°
ServerNet II Switch name (for example, X1, X2, X3, Y1, Y2, Y3)
°
ServerNet II Switch port number for that cable
°
Globally unique ID (GUID) of the ServerNet II Switch
•
On the MSEB end of the cable:
°
System name of the node
°
Slot location and fabric of the MSEB
