Monitoring a ServerNet Cluster Switch
°
Does a light-emitting diode (LED), an OSM or TSM alarm, or event message
indicate a problem?
°
Is there a clear indication of one problem, or are there a number of problems?
°
Do all indications consistently point to the same cause, or could the symptoms
indicate a number of causes?
•
Where is this problem occurring?
°
If a problem is occurring on both ServerNet II Switches, the problem might be
caused by the software or system configuration rather the hardware.
°
If you are having a problem with the connection from a ServerNet II Switch to a
specific node, check whether the same problem is occurring with the
connections to the other nodes.
•
When is the problem occurring?
°
Did the problem occur during normal system operations or have you recently
made a change to your system? For example, have you recently installed a
new version of one or more software products, installed new hardware, or
changed the system configuration of any of the nodes?
°
Did the problem occur after a system load of a node?
°
Has a power outage occurred?
•
What is the magnitude of the problem?
Monitoring a ServerNet Cluster Switch
Use the following to monitor a ServerNet Cluster Switch:
•
OSM Service Connection or TSM Service Application
•
LEDs on the front panels of the ServerNet II Switch, UPS, and AC transfer switch
Using OSM or TSM to Monitor a ServerNet Cluster Switch
After you have connected and configured a node for a ServerNet cluster, you can use
the OSM Service Connection or TSM Service Application to monitor the cluster switch.
Using the TSM Cluster Tab
To view information about a ServerNet II Switch, AC transfer switch, or uninterruptible
power supply (UPS) using TSM:
1. Log on to the TSM Service Application.
Note. The Physical view provides information about the ServerNet II Switch, but does not
provide attributes or actions for the UPS and AC transfer switch.
