Monitoring a UPS
Monitoring a UPS
You can monitor the UPS using OSM or TSM and the LEDs on the front panel. If there
is any discrepancy between the information provided by OSM or TSM and the LEDs on
the UPS, contact your service provider before replacing the UPS.
Using OSM or TSM to Monitor a UPS
The following attributes of the Switch object provide information about the UPS. Refer
to OSM or TSM online help for more information about these attributes.
Additional information about the battery in the UPS is available by checking Table 8-6,
Battery LEDs on the UPS, on page 8-14.

Battery
Management
Charging The battery in the UPS is being charged.
Floating The battery in the UPS is being charged
but at a slower rate than when in the
charging state, because the battery is
closer to being fully recharged.
Resting The battery in the UPS is not being
charged.
Discharging The UPS is supplying battery power to a
ServerNet II Switch.
Remaining
Battery Time
n minutes The amount of battery charge time left on
the UPS battery. Although the maximum
value that can be shown for this attribute
is 44 minutes, the remaining battery time
for a fully charged battery is usually at
least two hours.
