Task 1: Inventory the Hardware
Task 1: Inventory the Hardware
Check that you have all the required number of 6780 switches to build your cluster.
The number of switches you need depends on how many nodes, zones, and layers
you have planned. For more information, refer to Task 3: Plan for the 6780 Switches on
page 3-8.
Task 2: Install the Hardware
The 6780 switches and related components are either shipped preinstalled in a HP
10642 rack or are each shipped separately.
Installing a Rack With Preinstalled Components
Each preinstalled rack contains up to two switch groups, each containing up to four
switches, and a cable-management assembly for each switch.
•
If required, each rack also contains two or more preinstalled power distribution
units.
•
If ordered, each rack contains an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for each
switch group, and extended run-time module.
1. For information about unpacking the rack, refer to the HP 10642 Rack reference
guide shipped with the rack .
2. Skip to Task 3: Set the Numeric Selector on page 5-4.
Installing Components Into an EIA Standard Rack
1. Assemble the Required Tools on page 5-2
2. Install the Switch Rails on page 5-2
3. Install a 6780 Switch on page 5-3
4. Install a Cable-Management Assembly on page 5-4
Assemble the Required Tools
