Connect the Layer Cables
1. From slots 11, 12, and 13, ports 1, 2, 3 and 4 of each switch on the specified fabric,
remove the black plugs from the ports that you will be connecting to. Leave the
plugs for the remaining ports in place to protect from dust.
2. Remove the dust caps from the MMF LC-to-LC fiber-optic cables.
3. One cable at a time:
a. Connect the cable ends:
Table 6-1, Layer Cable Connections (Zone 1), on page 6-8
Figure 6-3, Cable Connections for Four Layers, on page 6-7
b. Check the link-alive LED near each port.
The link-alive LEDs should light a few seconds after the cable is connected at
both ends. If the link-alive LEDs do not light, refer to Green Link-Alive LED Is
Not Lit on page 10-2.
4. Route the fiber-optic cables through the cable-management assembly. Refer to
Routing the Fiber-Optic Cables on page 6-22.
5. Continue until all layer cables in this group are connected.
6. Refer to Checking the Operation of Each Switch on page 8-4.
