Task 5: Connect a Cable to the Node
Task 5: Connect a Cable to the Node
To connect the cable to the node:
1. Align the keys on the connector with the key slots on the receptacle.
2. Insert the connector into the receptacle, squeezing the connector gently between
your thumb and forefinger as you insert it. Push the connector straight into the
receptacle until the connector clicks into place. Check that the connector is fully
mated to the receptacle.
For example, you would perform these steps to connect to a NonStop S-series server:
1. Remove the dust cap from the SC connector on the SMF SC-to-LC fiber-optic
cables.
2. Connect the SC connector to port 6 on the MSEB.
3. Align the keys on the SC connector with the key slots on the receptacle of the
MSEB.
4. Insert the SC connector into the receptacle, squeezing the connector gently
between your thumb and forefinger as you insert it. Push the connector straight
into the receptacle until the connector clicks into place. For an illustration of
connecting to an MSEB, see Figure 6-6 .
5. Check that the connector is fully mated to the receptacle.
6. Check that the fibers are evenly inserted. It is possible for the link-alive LED to light
on the SC connector end of the cable even though one of the fibers is not
connected. See Figure 6-7.
