Checking for a Mixed Globally Unique ID (GUID)
Using OSM
1. Log on to the OSM Service Connection.
2. From the tree pane:
a. Expand the ServerNet cluster resource.
b. Expand the External ServerNet Fabric for the X or Y fabric to display the
Switch Group.
c. Expand the Switch Group to display the switch module.
d. Select the Switch Module.
3. Click the Attributes tab to display the Switch attributes.
4. Check the Logical Globally Unique ID attribute.
5. Record the GUID for each switch on Table B-1, Planning for Switches, on
page B-2.
Checking for a Mixed Globally Unique ID (GUID)
1. From an SCF prompt, type:
-> INFO SWITCH $ZZSMN, SWITCHPORTS, ZONE <zone#>, &
-> LAYER <layer#>, FABRIC <fabric>
2. If the UNGD status is displayed for a port on the Zone or layer PICs, the Globally
Unique ID is mixed.
3. To correct the problem, refer to Correcting a Mixed Globally Unique ID (GUID) on
page 10-6.
Checking the Fiber-Optic Cable Connections to the Switch Port
1. Check the status of the switch ports:
If the ServerNet cluster contains any 6770 switches, you must indicate which
fabric contains the 6780 switches. For example:
-> STATUS SWITCH $ZZSMN, SWITCHPORTS, FABRIC X, &
-> ZONE 1, LAYER 2
If the ServerNet cluster contains only 6780 switches, you do not need to
indicate the fabric. For example:
-> STATUS SWITCH $ZZSMN, SWITCHPORTS, ZONE 1, &
-> LAYER 2
2. In the display for the switch ports, check that port status for each connected port is
enabled (EN).
