Checking Communications With a Remote Node
Perform this procedure if you are having problems with an external fabric, or a remote
node resource.
1. Log on to the OSM Service Connection.
2. Use OSM to check for alarms and repair actions for the Remote Node resources.
For more information, refer to the OSM online help.
3. Check that SNETMON and SANMAN are started. Refer to Checking MSGMON,
SANMAN, and SNETMON on page 8-13.
4. Perform the Node Responsive Test. To verify whether or not a remote node is
connected and responding, use the Node Responsive Test action, which pings the
remote node:
a. Log on to the OSM Service Connection.
b. In the tree pane, expand the appropriate Switch group to display the switch
module.
c. Right-click the appropriate Switch Module.
d. Right-click the appropriate Switch PIC.
e. Right-click the Switch Node Port resource for the node that you want to ping,
and select Actions. The Actions dialog box appears.
f. Select Available Actions>Node Responsive Test.
g. Click Perform action. The Action Status window shows the progress of the
action. If the action status Completed, the action passed. If the action status is
