Adding a Node to a ServerNet Cluster
12. If you plan to use the removed zone or layer as an independently functioning
ServerNet cluster:
a. Restart the ServerNet Cluster Subsystem on the nodes you have removed.
Refer to Starting the ServerNet Cluster Subsystem on page 11-4.
b. Restart the Expand-over-ServerNet lines in the new ServerNet cluster. Refer to
Starting the Expand-Over-ServerNet Line-Handler Processes and Lines on
page 11-5.
c. Restart applications.
Adding a Node to a ServerNet Cluster
You may add only one node at a time. You can add nodes to a ServerNet cluster until
the cluster reaches the maximum number of nodes supported for the topology and
software release.
Task 1: Prepare to Add the Node
1. Check that the node is ready to be added to the ServerNet cluster.
a. Review the Planning Checklist in Planning Checklist on page 3-2. In particular,
you must check that the node meets the software requirements.
b. Complete all steps in Section 4, Preparing a System for Installation or
Migration, including all tasks that check if required processes are configured
properly and started.
2. Label the cables as described in Label both ends of each fiber-optic cable. Refer to
Layer Cable Connections on page 6-5. on page 6-4.
Task 2: Add the Node to the ServerNet Cluster
You can use either the Add Node to ServerNet Cluster action from the OSM Service
Connections or SCF commands to add the node to the cluster:
•
To use the OSM action, refer to Add Node to ServerNet Cluster Action on
page 9-2.
•
To use SCF, refer to Using SCF on page 7-2.
