Task 5: Resume Normal Operations
4. If a ServerNet port LED does not remain lit continuously after 60 seconds, refer to
Green Link-Alive LED Is Not Lit on page 10-2.
Task 5: Resume Normal Operations
1. Use the OSM Service Connection to enable the OSM alarms that were suppressed
by the Update Topology action:
a. Right-click ServerNet Cluster, and select Actions.
b. From the Available Actions drop-down list, select Reanalyze.
c. Click Perform action.
Adding a Switch Zone to a ServerNet Cluster
Adding a switch zone to a ServerNet cluster:
•
Can be done online if you add the zone one fabric at a time
•
Continues to use the layered topology
•
Continues to use the same numeric selector setting for the current 6780 switches
•
Continues to use the same ServerNet node numbers of the current ServerNet
nodes
The number of fiber-optic cables between zones varies depending on which zones are
in the ServerNet cluster. For each fabric and each layer in the zones:
•
Four cables connect between the zones if zone 1 and zone 2 are the only two
zones in the ServerNet cluster.
•
Two cables connect between the zones if:
°
Zone 1 and zone 3 are the only two zones in the ServerNet cluster.
°
Zone 2 and zone 3 are the only two zones in the ServerNet cluster.
•
Six cables connect between the zones if zone 1, zone 2, and zone 3 are all
connected together in the ServerNet cluster. Two cables connect between zone 1
and zone 2, two cables connect between zone 2 and zone 3, and two cables
connect between zone 1 and zone 3.
Task 1: Prepare to Add the Switches
1. Review the Planning Checklist on page 3-2.
2. Check that the ServerNet cluster is operating normally on both fabrics. Resolve
any problems before you proceed.
3. Select a fabric to add the switch zone.
Note. For guidelines and limitations on long-distance zone-to-zone connections, see
Appendix G, Using the Long-Distance Option.
