Task 10: Reenable OSM Alarms
Task 10: Reenable OSM Alarms
Use the OSM Service Connection to enable the OSM alarms that were suppressed by
the Update Topology action:
1. Right-click ServerNet Cluster, and select Actions.
2. From the Available Actions drop-down list, select Reanalyze.
3. Click Perform action.
Moving a Node
Use this procedure to move a node to another port on the same switch pair or to
another switch pair. You can move the cables to an unused port 1 or 2 on PICs 6
through 9 on any switch pair.
Alerts
Moving the cable connected between a node and a 6780 switch causes the
ServerNet node number to change, and consequently momentarily disrupts
ServerNet connectivity between the node you are moving and all the other nodes
in the ServerNet cluster.
Because the cables must use the same switch zone and layer (for example, X11
and Y11), PIC slot number, and port number on both switches, you must move
both the X-fabric and Y-fabric fiber-optic cables.
This procedure moves the cable connections at the switches only. The fiber-optic
cables remain connected to the NonStop server.
Moving the Cable Connected Between a Node and 6780 Switch
To move the cables to a different port:
1. Check that one unused port on the PICs in slots 6 through 9 of the 6780 switch are
available on both the X-fabric and Y-fabric switches.
2. Complete the planning form for moving fiber-optic cables. A blank copy of this form
is included in Moving Node Cables Form
on page B-8.
3. Identify and relabel the cables you want to move to the unused ports. Relabeling
the cables reduces the likelihood of moving the wrong cables, or connecting the
cables to the wrong switch, PIC slot, or port.
4. Remove the cables from the ServerNet node (the node whose cables you are
moving to different ports) temporarily from the ServerNet cluster. Refer to
Removing a Node From a ServerNet Cluster on page 9-3.
5. To connect the node to a different port on the same or a different switch, complete
the procedure for Adding a Node to a ServerNet Cluster on page 9-5.
