Green Power-On LED on a Switch Is Not Lit
If the green power-on LED is not lit:
1. Wait several minutes for the power-on self tests (POSTs) to complete.
2. Check that the power cords are properly connected.
3. Check that the switch components are properly seated in their slots.
4. If you continue to have problems, disconnect and reconnect the power cord.
Green Link-Alive LED Is Not Lit
If the link-alive LED is not lit:
1. Check that the dust caps are removed from the cable connectors.
2. Check that you have connected the correct type of cable (SMF or MMF) to the
correct switch port.
3. Check that the fiber-optic cables from the node to the ports in slots 6 through 9 of
the 6780 switch are correctly connected.
4. Disconnect and reconnect the cable, using care to align the key on the cable plug
with the connector. Refer to Reseating a Fiber-Optic Cable on page 10-5.
5. If you continue to have problems, try connecting a different cable.
6. If the cables are properly connected and the green link-alive LED fails to light, a
PIC or cable might be faulty. For procedures to replace cables and switch
components, refer to the ServerNet Cluster 6780 Operations Guide.
