Correcting a Mixed Globally Unique ID (GUID)
Correcting a Mixed Globally Unique ID (GUID)
A mixed GUID can occur when the 6780 switches have been miscabled. To correct this
problem:
1. Check that the fiber-optic cables are correctly labeled.
2. When a mixed GUID occurs on these ports on a 6780 switch, disconnect the
cables with a mixed GUID error from all the indicated ports in Table 10-1. Do not
reconnect any of the cables until after all the cables indicated are disconnected.
3. Reconnect the LC connectors to the appropriate switch ports:
a. Align the keys on the connector body with the transceiver on the switch.
b. Insert the LC connector into the transceiver, squeezing the connector body
gently between your thumb and forefinger as you insert it. Push the connector
straight into the receptacle until the connector clicks into place.
c. Check that the connector is fully mated to the transceiver.
4. Check the link-alive LED near each switch port. The LED should light seconds
after the connector is inserted. Wait for the LED to be lit continuously. If the LED
does not remain lit without flashing after 60 seconds, refer to Green Link-Alive LED
Is Not Lit on page 10-2.
5. Check that the problem has been corrected. Refer to Checking for a Mixed
Globally Unique ID (GUID) on page 8-8.
