Software Requirements
Software Requirements
On all NonStop S-series servers in a cluster that uses the long-distance option
between any 6780 switches in the cluster, you must install:
•
The G06.22 or later RVU.
•
The T2790AAC configuration image for the 6780 switch or a superseding SPR.
T2790AAC is available only as a restricted SPR.
Table G-1 lists the minimum software that supports the long-distance option on
NonStop S-series servers. Except for the T2790AAC switch configuration image, all of
these software products are part of the G06.22 RVU.
Restrictions
Only a two-zone configuration (using zones 1 and 2) of the layered topology is
supported for the long-distance option.
The numeric selector settings shown in Table G-2
are optimized for zone-to-zone links
between 5 and 15 km. Configuring a ServerNet cluster with the required long-distance
option software and the numeric selector settings shown in Table G-2
, but with actual
lengths outside this range can degrade cluster performance and cause severe errors
that result in a loss of ServerNet connectivity between nodes.
Table G-1. Software That Supports the Long-Distance Option
Product Product Version Update (PVU)
NonStop Kernel T9050APF
SANMAN T0502AAM
SNETMON/MSGMON T0294AAM
6780 switch firmware T2789AAC
6780 switch FPGA T2819AAB
6780 switch configuration T2790AAC (restricted SPR)
Note. Installing these components separately on an RVU earlier than G06.22 is not
recommended. All nodes of a cluster that uses the long-distance option must be running
G06.22 or later.
Note. The long-distance option does not affect the supported lengths for layer-to-layer
connections and switch-to-node connections.
