Routers
Routers
Routers in a ServerNet cluster:
•
Provide wormhole routing of ServerNet packets
•
Receive data packets, check the packet for errors, interpret their destination
addresses, and then route the packets out one of the output ports
•
Route messages across ServerNet links in a node and ServerNet clusters
Router-2 ASICs
The router-2 ASIC:
•
Contains a 12-way crossbar switch.
•
Supports the ServerNet II protocol
In a ServerNet cluster using the layered topology, these customer-replaceable units
(CRUs) contain router-2 application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs):
•
6780 Switch on page 2-2
•
Modular ServerNet Expansion Boards (MSEBs) on page 2-20
6780 Switch
Each 6780 switch is a cluster switch that provides connectivity for up to 8 nodes on a
single fabric in a ServerNet cluster.
Identifying a 6780 Switch
You can identify each 6780 switch in one of several ways:
•
Numeric Selector Setting
Example: 9612
•
6780 Switch Name
Example: X12
•
6780 Group Number and Module Number
Example: group 1010, module 2.
