Identifying a 6780 Switch
6780 Switch Name
The switch name consists of the fabric, zone, and layer. For example, the switch on the
X fabric, zone 2, and layer 1 is named X21.
6780 Group Number
A 6780 switch group number contains four digits. The first two digits are always ten for
6780 switches, the third digit indicates the 6780 switch zone, and the fourth digit
indicates the fabric (0 for the X fabric, and 1 for the Y fabric). Therefore, 1010 is the
6780 switch group number for the 6780 switches in zone 1 on the X fabric. Table 2-2
lists the group numbers that correspond to each zone and 6780 switch name.
