6780 Switch Ports
The number of ports on each PIC varies depending on the PIC type as described in
Table 2-5. The quad MMF PICs contain four transceivers in each port. The dual SMF
PICs contain only one transceiver each in ports 1 and 2.
The ports on the Dual SMF and Quad MMF PICs are numbered starting from the
bottom as shown in Figure 2-8.

Port 1 and 2 are supported for either SMF or MMF
connections depending on the PIC type. The transceivers in
ports 3 and 4 on the MMF PICs are not supported for
connections between zones.
Slots 4, 5,
and 10
Router
Interconnect
No external ports are present on the Router Interconnect.
Slots 6
through 9
Dual SMF Ports 1 and 2 are supported for connections to NonStop
S-series servers. Dual SMF PICs do not contain transceivers
in Ports 3 and 4.
