Figure 2-10 shows the basic model for a link between a cluster switch and either
another switch or a node. A link is the entire communications path between two
devices. The intermediate fiber-optic connectors might be part of a patch panel or
splices between distinct fiber-optic cable segments.
Fiber-Optic Cables
The fiber-optic cables provide the ServerNet links between routing devices. These
cables either connect switches together or connect a switch to a node. HP provides
fiber-optic cables for ServerNet cluster installations that adhere to the IEEE 802.3z
(Gigabit Ethernet) standard.
