Task 5: Check and Install the Hardware
1. Check that all nodes in the ServerNet cluster have the same time. At a TACL
prompt:
> TIME
2. Use the SCF interface to the Kernel subsystem to check the system name and
system number and view the time zone offset. At an SCF prompt:
- > INFO SUBSYS $ZZKRN
a. On the Switch Planning Form on page B-2, record the system name and
system number (also known as an Expand node number) for this system and
for any existing ServerNet nodes.
b. Check that the system name and system number do not conflict with the name
and number of any node in the ServerNet cluster.
c. Check that the system clock is set to the correct time zone offset.
For information about the system name, system number (Expand node number), or
the time zone offset, refer to the SCF Reference Manual for the Kernel Subsystem.
Task 5: Check and Install the Hardware
For each NonStop server that you plan to add to a ServerNet cluster, check that all
required hardware is installed. Before adding a NonStop server as a node in a
ServerNet cluster, you must install all hardware on the server that is required for the
connection to the 6780 switch.
Checking NonStop S-series Servers
For each NonStop S-series server, check that all the hardware listed in Hardware
Required on page 1-10 is installed.
Check That MSEBs Are Installed in the Group 01 System
Enclosure
1. Check the CRUs installed in group 01, slots 51 and 52 to determine if they are
SEBs or MSEBs. Figure 4-1 on page 4-7 shows the location of these slots.
2. If these slots contain SEBs as shown in Figure 4-2 on page 4-8, replace them with
MSEBs.
3. If these slots contain adapters, replace them with MSEBs. You must physically
move the adapters and delete their configuration information from the system
configuration database. For instructions, refer to:
