Task 6: Check the Link-Alive LEDs
Task 6: Check the Link-Alive LEDs
Check the link-alive LED near each port at both the switch port and the port where the
cable connects to the NonStop server. Both LEDs should light seconds after the
connector is inserted. Wait for the LED to stop flashing. If the link-alive LEDs do not
light, refer to Green Link-Alive LED Is Not Lit on page 10-2.
Task 7: Check Operations
Before proceeding, check that the node is operating properly and is able to
communicate with the other nodes in the ServerNet cluster.
1. Check that the node you just added is operating properly. Refer to Checking for
Alarms on Each Node on page 8-14
2. Check communications between this node and the other nodes in the ServerNet
cluster. Refer to these topics:
Checking the External Fabric for All Nodes on page 8-3
Checking for Problems Between Nodes on page 8-4
Task 8: Finish Connecting the Fiber-Optic Cables
If all cables between the switches are already connected, repeat Connecting the
Cables Between a Node and a 6780 Switch on page 6-18 for the next node on this
fabric.
If all cables between the switches are not connected, return to Connect the Layer
Cables on page 6-9.
Routing the Fiber-Optic Cables
1. Open the hinge on the appropriate cable-management cartridge for that PIC.
2. Route each cable through the cartridge.
3. Close the hinge.
4. Route the cable towards the left or right of the cable-management tray as directed
by each cartridge.
5. Route the cable through the vertical radius guides (VRGs).
