Firmware, Configuration, and FPGA Images
Firmware, Configuration, and FPGA Images
The firmware, configuration, and FPGA images are saved in flash memory on the logic
board in the 6780 switch. Check that the correct versions of the firmware,
configuration, and FPGA images are running on each 6780 switch after you install it. If
a newer version of an image is available, update it on the logic board. Refer to
Appendix F, Updating the 6780 Switch Logic Board Firmware, Configuration, and
FPGA Images.
Logic Board Firmware Image
The logic board firmware processes and replies to manageability commands sent by
the external ServerNet SAN manager process (SANMAN).
Logic Board Configuration Image
The firmware configures the router-2 ASICs according to the numeric selector. The
logic board numeric selector setting determines the zone and layer of the 6780 switch
and the ServerNet node numbers that the 6780 switch supports.
Logic Board FPGA Image
The logic board field-programmable gate array (FPGA) provides hardware monitoring
and control functions that the firmware uses to manage the 6780 switch.
