Using the Long-Distance Option
This appendix provides information on the long-distance option between zones.
Starting with the G06.22 RVU, the HP NonStop ServerNet Switch (model 6780) can
support significantly longer zone-to-zone connections in a ServerNet cluster. Software,
firmware, and configuration files enable you to have zone-to-zone connections
between 5 and 15 kilometers (km). To accommodate the longer distances, the
supporting software sets the links to a capacity of 50 megabytes per second.
Starting with the G06.28 and H06.05 RVUs, the long-distance option is supported for
two-zone and three-zone configurations. In a three-zone configuration, it is possible for
all zone-to-zone connections to exceed 5 kilometers, or for some to exceed 5
kilometers while others are closer together.
Figure G-1 shows an example of a configuration in which some zone-to-zone
connections use the long-distance option and others do not.
