fail to make a solid connection even though the connector is inserted properly.
Figure 3-5 shows a fully inserted connector in which one of the fibers does not
make a solid connection.
7. Check the link-alive LED at both ends of the cable. Both LEDs should light
seconds after the connector is inserted. You must check the link-alive LED at both
ends of the cable to ensure that both the transmit and receive fibers are
connected. It is possible for the link-alive LED to light on one end of the cable even
though one of the fibers is not connected. See Figure 3-6.
