START PATH Command
$ZZFOX
is the FOX monitor process in the local cluster for which you are requesting the
START PATH command.
local-processor
is the processor number in the local cluster that specifies the starting point of the
FOX direct logical path. A local-processor or an asterisk (*) must be explicitly
specified.
remote-cluster
is the system name of one of the clusters (other than the local cluster) on the FOX
ring to which remote-processor belongs. A remote-cluster or an asterisk
(*) must be explicitly specified.
remote-processor
is the processor number in remote-cluster that specifies the destination of the
FOX direct logical path. A remote-processor or an asterisk (*) must be explicitly
specified.
fox-logical-path
is one of the four FOX direct logical paths {XL | XR | YL | YR}. If
fox-logical-path is not specified, ALL is assumed.
Considerations
•
When issuing the START PATH command (to recover from stuck FOX direct logical
paths) to a remote cluster on which the ServerNet/FX Path Management Facility is
not supported, the logical connections from the specified remote processor to all
processors on the local cluster are restarted.
•
The START PATH command will automatically return detailed status information for
the specified command parameters.
•
The ability of the START PATH command to bring up a FOX direct logical path
depends on how the FOX direct logical path went down. For instance, a FOX direct
logical path cannot be recovered if the logical LBU connection associated with it is
also down.
•
The starting point for a FOX direct logical path that is managed by SCF is in the
local cluster. However, SCF can be invoked remotely to manage FOX direct logical
paths spanning over non-local clusters. To remotely manage FOX direct logical
paths via SCF, the remote cluster must be running software that supports the
ServerNet/FX Path Management Facility.
