Troubleshooting Methodology
Troubleshooting Methodology
To quickly and efficiently identify and resolve ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem
problems, HP recommends that you use a standard troubleshooting methodology. This
methodology should include
•
Understanding your FOX ring
•
Using utilities to collect information about ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem
components
•
Interpreting information accurately to identify problems
•
Resolving and/or reporting problems to the appropriate support personnel
Understanding Your FOX Ring
An understanding of the operation of your FOX ring should be based on
•
Knowledge of your FOX ring topology and the configuration of each cluster in the
ring
•
Knowledge of the design and purpose of network applications
•
Information gathered during routine maintenance using utilities
FOX ring topology and other planning-related information is explained in Section 1,
Overview of the ServerNet/FX Adapter Subsystem, and in the Expand Configuration
and Management Manual.
ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem configuration is explained in Section 2, Configuring
the ServerNet/FX Adapter Subsystem. Expand-over-FOX line-handler process
configuration, including the meaning and effect of the various configuration modifiers,
is explained in the Expand Configuration and Management Manual.
Collecting Information
The following tools are provided by HP to help you become familiar with the normal
operation of the ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem:

Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
