FOX logical neighbors
FOX logical neighbors. Two FOX clusters, each running operational microcode and a
working FOX monitor process ($ZZFOX). The two FOX clusters must be either FOX
physical neighbors or separated only by FOX clusters in any adapter passthrough
mode; that is, the intervening nodes must act as hardware or software repeaters. The
$ZZFOXs in FOX logical neighbors are communicating with each other.
FOX Physical Neighbors. Two FOX clusters, each running operational microcode, that are
either FOX cable neighbors or are separated only by FOX nodes in hardware
passthrough mode; that is, the intervening nodes are acting as hardware repeaters.
FOX ring. The fiber optic cabling that connects the FOX clusters. Also used to refer to the
topology of a FOX network. See also Fiber Optic Extension (FOX II).
FRU. See field-replaceable unit (FRU).
FRU information record (FIR). A collection of information that every field-replaceable unit
(FRU) carries with it, such as part number, revision, track ID, and media access control
(MAC) address.
Global Customer Support Center (GCSC). A support organization that provides telephone
and remote diagnostic support for HP customers. There are GCSCs located all over
the world.
group. The set of all objects accessible by a pair of service processors (SPs) located in the
processor multifunction (PMF) customer-replaceable unit (CRU). In a NonStop S-series
server, there is exactly one group in a system enclosure.
HP NonStop S-series servers. The set of NonStop servers having product numbers
beginning with the letter “S.” These servers implement the ServerNet architecture and
run the HP NonStop Kernel operating system.
HP NonStop Kernel Operating System. The operating system for NonStop systems.
HP NonStop Open System Management (OSM) software. Replacement for the Compaq
TSM package as the system management tool of choice for NonStop S-series servers.
OSM provides the same functionality as TSM while overcoming limitations of TSM.
OSM is reguired to support new functionality released in G06.21 and subsequent
RVUs.
HP Tandem Advanced Command Language (TACL). The user interface to the HP
NonStop Kernel operating system. The TACL product is both a command interpreter
and a command language. Users can write TACL programs that perform complex
tasks simply or provide a consistent user interface across independently programmed
applications.
INFO command. A nonsensitive SCF command that returns the current or default values
for the specified objects.
