product module (PM)
product module (PM). The part of the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) subsystem that is
responsible for subsystem-specific command processing.
SCF. See Subsystem Control Facility (SCF).
SCP. See Subsystem Control Point (SCP).
sensitive command. A Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) command that can be issued only
by a user with super-group access, by the owner of the subsystem, or by a member of
the group of the owner of the subsystem. The owner of a subsystem is the user who
started that subsystem (or any user whose application ID is the same as the server
ID—the result of a PROGID option that requires super-group access). Contrast with
nonsensitive command.
service provider. (1) A person trained and qualified to service HP field-replaceable units
(FRUs). (2) An organization, such as the Global Customer Support Center (GCSC),
that helps you resolve problems with your NonStop S-series server. The TSM package
allows you to use the help of a service provider by configuring TSM to support remote
notification and remote access.

Expand network. (2) A combination of hardware and software designed to provide
services in response to requests received from clients across a network. For example,

services.
ServerNet cable. A cable that provides ServerNet links between system enclosures.
ServerNet/FX adapter. A ServerNet adapter that logically extends the ServerNet X and Y
fabrics to other clusters in a Fiber Optic Extension (FOX) ring using fiber-optic lines.
Two ServerNet/FX adapters are used, one for the X ring and one for the Y ring.
slot. A physical, labeled space for a customer-replaceable unit (CRU) or field-replaceable
unit (FRU) that is part of a module. A module contains one or more slots.
START command. A sensitive SCF command that is used to initiate the operation of the
specified object.
state. In Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) subsystems, one of the generally defined
possible conditions of an object with respect to the management of that object.
Examples of states are DEFINED, STARTED, and STOPPED.
STATS. A nonsensitive SCF command that returns statistical information about a specified
object. This command is sensitive when issued with the RESET option in the SCF
STATS command.
STATUS command. A nonsensitive SCF command that displays status information about
an object, such as the dynamic state, the last error, and modifiable values of the
specified object. It also displays specific subsystem attributes and values.
