Expand-Over-FOX Line-Handler Processes
Expand-Over-FOX Line-Handler Processes
The Expand-over-FOX line-handler processes are responsible for managing
security-related messages and forwarding packets outside the FOX ring. Other
messages, such as incoming and outgoing data, usually bypass the Expand-over-FOX
line-handler processes and are handled directly by the ServerNet X-fabric and Y-fabric
and the ServerNet/FX adapters. This is known as Expand bypass mode. One
Expand-over-FOX line-handler process is required for each cluster in the FOX ring.
Figure 1-1 on page 1-3 shows an example of a four cluster ring with all remote
Expand-over-FOX line-handler processes, named LINE and followed by the system
number, configured on each local system. Refer to the Expand Configuration and
Management Manual for further information on the Expand-over-FOX line-handler
processes.
FOX Driver
The FOX driver is responsible for communicating directly with the ServerNet/FX
adapters. It is provided as part of the NonStop Kernel operating system.
