Removing a Cluster From a FOX Ring
Task 9: Verify that the new links are up
You can verify that the NonStop S-series server is connected to the FOX ring using the
commands outlined in Monitoring FOX Ring Activity on page 3-3. For a complete view
of the entire FOX ring, use the SCF STATUS SUBNET command:
SCF> STATUS SUBNET $ZZFOX, DETAIL
The ring status is displayed in the Ring Termination Status field. A value of Ring
Continuous indicates that the ring is operational. Other possible values for the Ring
Termination Status field are explained in Section 4, ServerNet/FX Adapter Subsystem
SCF Commands.
Removing a Cluster From a FOX Ring
This subsection explains how to remove a NonStop S-series server from a FOX ring.
Task 1: Notify users
Notify the users of the FOX ring warning them that you are removing a cluster. Allow
them time to finish communicating with the cluster before it is removed.
Task 2: Stop the Expand-over-FOX lines
Use the Expand subsystem SCF STOP LINE command to stop the Expand-over-FOX
lines at the cluster to be removed. You must also stop all the corresponding
Expand-over-FOX lines at every other cluster in the network.
The command syntax for the SCF STOP LINE command is
$device_name
is the device name of an Expand-over-FOX line-handler process.
Refer to the SCF Reference Manual for Expand for more information about stopping
Expand lines.
Note. Removing a NonStop K-series system running the D-series NonStop Kernel operating
system from a FOX ring is explained in the Expand Network Management Guide for D-series
systems.
