Recovering Down or Stuck FOX Direct Logical Paths
Task 5: Verify that the LBUs are down
To check the status of the LBUs for the ServerNet/FX adapters connected to the X-
and Y-rings on the local cluster, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem
SCF commands:
SCF> STATUS LBU $ZZFOX.#X
SCF> STATUS LBU $ZZFOX.#Y
The summary state displayed for each LBU should be STOPPED.
Task 6: Disconnect cables
To physically detach the cluster from the FOX ring, you must power down the
ServerNet/FX adapter and/or remove the fiber-optic cables.
Task 7: Reconnect the FOX ring
The FOX ring should be reconnected again after you have removed a cluster. If this is
not possible, the ring will be broken and all message flow will circulate away from the
break. Follow the procedure for adding a cluster in Adding a Cluster to a FOX Ring on
page 3-14.
Recovering Down or Stuck FOX Direct Logical
Paths
This subsection explains how to view the current state of connectivity on a FOX ring
and recover FOX direct logical paths that are down (D) or in a stuck state (-STUCK-).
Task 1: Determine the state of FOX direct logical paths
To view the current state of connectivity on a FOX ring from the perspective of the local
cluster and determine if any clusters are reporting Path Down or CPU Stuck, issue
the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> STATUS PATH $ZZFOX.*, TO \*.*
The following example of a STATUS PATH command shows the X and Y logical LBU
connections in the STARTED state, and values other than zero (0) in the Path Down

Note. To diagnose and recover FOX ring connectivity, the following tasks must be repeated on
each cluster in the FOX ring that is running software which supports the ServerNet/FX Path
Management Facility.
