Procedures for Preparing ServerNet/FX Adapters for
PMF CRU Replacement
ServerNet/FX adapters located in the same enclosure as the
PMF CRU being replaced
If the PMF CRU to be replaced is located in an enclosure that contains ServerNet/FX
adapters, perform the following tasks:
Task 1: Verify the status of the surviving ServerNet fabric
To check the status of the X (Y) ServerNet fabric that will remain fully connected during
the PMF CRU replacement, issue the following Kernel subsystem SCF command:
SCF> STATUS SERVERNET $ZSNET
The status of the path between all pairs of processors on the fabric that will remain fully
connected should be UP.
Task 2: Verify where the primary FOX monitor process is running
To verify where the primary FOX monitor process is running, issue the following
ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> INFO PROCESS $ZZFOX
The following shows an example of a ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF INFO
PROCESS command.
Task 3: Switch the primary FOX monitor process to its backup
If the primary FOX monitor process is running on the processor in the PMF CRU to be
replaced, you should switch the primary and backup processor. To switch the primary
processor for the FOX monitor process to the backup processor, issue the following
ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> PRIMARY $ZZFOX, n
where n is the processor where the backup process is running.
Task 4: Stop the LBU
To stop the LBU to the X ServerNet fabric associated with the PMF CRU to be
replaced, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem SCF command:
SCF> STOP LBU $ZZFOX.#X
SCF> INFO PROCESS $ZZFOX
FOX Info PROCESS $ZZFOX On \GATE3
Name Primary CPU Backup CPU
$ZZFOX 0 3
Please see the LISTDEV $ZZFOX command for device type information.
