Procedures for Preparing ServerNet/FX Adapters for
PMF CRU Replacement
Task 7: Bring up the connections affected by the replacement of the PMF
CRU
To bring up the connections affected by the replacement of the PMF CRU, use one of
the following procedures based on your specific system configurations:
If the primary FOX monitor process is running in any other enclosure than the PMF
CRU that was replaced and if software supporting the ServerNet/FX Path Management
Facility is running on the same system where the PMF CRU was replaced, the paths
from the companion processor in the same enclosure as the PMF CRU that was
replaced must be restarted.
When a PMF CRU located in slot 50 is replaced, all X paths from the processor
located in slot 55 will remain down after the PMF CRU is replaced.
To recover all down paths from the processor located in slot 55, issue the following
ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem command to the processor located in slot 55 of
the enclosure (local processor):
SCF> START PATH $ZZFOX.local processor, TO \*.*, SUB ALL
When a PMF CRU located in slot 55 is replaced, all Y paths from the processor
located in slot 50 will remain down after the PMF CRU is replaced.
To recover all down paths from the processor located in slot 50, issue the following
ServerNet/FX adapter subsystem command to the processor located in slot 50 of
the enclosure (local processor):
SCF> START PATH $ZZFOX.local processor, TO \*.*, SUB ALL
If the primary FOX monitor process is running in the same enclosure as the PMF CRU
that was replaced or if software supporting the ServerNet/FX Path Management
Facility is not running on the same system where the PMF CRU was replaced, the
connection between the LBU (logical interface to the ServerNet/FX adapter) and the
ServerNet fabric that was affected by the replacement of the PMF CRU must now be
restarted.
PMF CRU replacement involving even-numbered processors will cause the X
ServerNet fabric for the companion processor running in the same enclosure to be
brought down and then up. As a result, the companion processor will lose its
connection to the LBU for the ServerNet FX adapter connected to the X-ring.
To bring up the connection from the LBU for the ServerNet FX adapter connected
to the X-ring to the X ServerNet fabric, issue the following ServerNet/FX adapter
subsystem commands:
SCF> START LBU $ZZFOX.#X
PMF CRU replacement involving odd-numbered processors will cause the Y
ServerNet fabric for the companion processor running in the same enclosure to be
brought down and then up. As a result, the companion processor will lose its
connection to the LBU for the ServerNet FX adapter connected to the Y-ring.
